Frequently Asked Questions 1. Are microlights safe? Yes and no, depending on whether you ‘use’ or ‘abuse’ it. Like all other machines, microlights too have their operating limits. If these are strictly observed, coupled with thorough pre-light checks, compliance with recommended and commonsense safety measures, the probability of accidents would be just as much as say driving a car, may be even less. The good news is that so long as there is no structural failure, microlights can be landed in relatively short spaces in emergencies. 2. How long does it take to get my flying license? It depends on how fast you complete the standard required flight hours (30 hours), achieve proficiency in handling the aircraft safely and consistently, and also how soon you pass the ground subjects. It could be in as little as twenty one days for those wishing to fly every morning and evening, or it may take as much as six months if one chooses to do so at a leisurely pace. We however do not advise prolonging the lessons beyond one year.  3. What about insurance? We have taken insurance to cover our needs. You are advised to take cover to meet your own needs. We could provide details of insurer specializing in aviation for your personal coverage.

4. How do I begin? Take up an introductory flight first. I you like the experience, fill out the Membership Application form to join the A’Famosa Microlight Flying Club. Submit three passport size photos and relevant payments. We will direct you to an aviation doctor for your medical certification. After some ground school, you will commence air exercises. This is so long as you maintain credit balances to cover your flying time. 5. What options are there for me after having obtained my PPL(R) licence? Congratulations, a whole window of opportunities is now open to you! You could acquire your own microlight, hanger it at our flight park, and enjoy flying your loved ones at your pleasure. The cost of a new microlight is surprisingly low: you could be a proud owner of one for as little as RM45K. You could even consider shared ownership with friends. You will have limitless fun flying and maintaining your own aircraft. Or if you desire you could move on to bigger flying machines. The world of flight has just begun! 6.
